School Nutrition Program Update District

Written by Thomas Ciravolo | Dec 16, 2020 5:00:00 AM

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended its program that allows school food service programs to continue serving free meals until December 31, 2020, or until available funding for this program runs out. This means that all students enrolled in South Huntington School District have access to nutritious food and can receive free breakfast and/or free lunch provided by your child's school.

Students and their families do not need to do anything to participate – there is no form or sign-up required. (Please note: This is for breakfast and lunch ONLY. Additional items such as snacks and water are not included.) This change is effective immediately.

Any families who qualify for free & reduced-price meals should still complete their applications to ensure that they maintain free meal status for the remainder of the school year even after USDA funding for this program runs out. You can access the 2020-2021 school year application for free and reduced-price meals by visiting this website: https://www.myschoolapps.com/Application

Please contact the Food Service Department with any questions by calling 631-812-3040 or emailing sbuhse@shufsd.org
