The last couple of weeks have been filled with excitement for the South Huntington Wrestling community. Walt Whitman High School senior Jensen Offerman captured a League title before wrestling his way to an All-County finish at the Suffolk County Wrestling Championships this past February. A week later at Bay Shore High School, three future Walt Whitman wrestlers each won New York State Youth titles! Birchwood’s Andrew Schulz took first place in the 93 pound weight class, earning a pin in the finals. Maplewood’s Vincent Cardella didn’t concede a single point the entire tournament, capturing the 59 pound State title. Lastly, Countrywood’s Dominic Cardella earned a pin against a previously undefeated wrestler in the finals of the 45 pound State Championship match. The future continues to be bright for the South Huntington wrestling community as we see the amazing development of our youth wrestling program. We are proud of the hard work and accomplishments of these young wrestlers and look forward to their continued participation!
