Each year, South Huntington School District is fortunate to receive school supply donations from local community members. At a recent Board of Education meeting, we were proud to recognize the Unity Church of Huntington, the Friedman family, and Orangetheory of Melville for their continued support of our students.

Representatives from the Unity Church of Huntington came to our district offices to donate an abundance of backpacks filled with pencils, erasers, composition notebooks, and other essentials for our students in need of basic school supplies. Our district is very fortunate to have such generous community members contributing their time and resources to our students year after year. Thank you to Reverend Saba Mchunguzi and the congregation from the Unity Church of Huntington for your continued generosity.

We wanted to share a special thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Friedman and community members who made numerous school supply donations to Oakwood Primary Center this summer in honor of their daughter, Samantha. Samantha Friedman was a teacher who loved her students and a Class of 2009 graduate of Walt Whitman High School. Each year the Friedman family collects school supplies and donates them to our youngest learners and we thank them for this very special donation in Samantha's memory.

In addition, Orangetheory Fitness members in Melville graciously donated backpacks, pencils, notebooks, binders and more to help our students start the year on the right track. We thank everyone who participated in donating school supplies in pursuit of helping prepare our students for a successful school year.

The South Huntington Board of Education recognized Reverend Saba Mchunguzi alongside his wife, and the congregation of the Unity Church of Huntington for their continued donations for over a decade.

The Friedman family donates school supples to Oakwood Primary Center year after year in memory of their daughter and WWHS graduate, Samantha Friedman.

Thank you to all of the members at Orangetheory of Melville for participating in this year's school supply donation drive!
