It is hard to believe that it has been 20 years since the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. In remembrance of this day, our schools throughout the district commemorated our fallen heroes and those lives lost on that fateful morning. The flag is set to half-staff and a moment of silence is taken as memories of that day are recollected. While we are seeing generations of children with a historical perspective of this day, we are sure to continue honoring the thousands who lost their lives in order to embrace their loving memory.

Over 200 flags flew on the lawns of our district buildings, including those lining the front entrance of Walt Whitman High School.

Primary center classrooms full of red, white, and blue bring patriotism to our youngest students.

With a historical perspective of this day, students commemorate the bravery of our American people from 20 years ago.

The Walt Whitman High School Marching Band played taps at 10:28 am, the time the 2nd tower fell in 2001. Girls JV Soccer took a moment of silence for the beautiful tribute.
