South Huntington School District is proud to announce that through the efforts of students and staff at all grade levels, South Huntington was able to raise almost $2,200 to help with humanitarian efforts in the Ukraine. Student leadership organizations from each corresponding school were able to fundraise through the purchase of blue and yellow wristbands, identifying the conflict in Ukraine and the humanitarian efforts associated with it.

Through the efforts of Board of Education member Erin Meijer, South Huntington Schools was able to identify the best foundation to donate this money to, which was the International Red Cross. This organization, whose focus has been to provide medicine and other medical supplies to the people of Ukraine, will allow the money raised to go to good use.

Board member Erin Meijer stated “It was an amazing collaboration between our administration, Board of Education, teachers and school buildings to come together in this way to aid in efforts to help the families in Ukraine.” The Board Trustee extended her sincerest gratitude to students at Countrywood who had made significant contributions towards the district-wide fundraiser.

Thank you to all of the staff, students and families in South Huntington for contributing to this fundraiser in hopes of providing aid to the Ukraine.
