South Huntington's 2024 Festival of the Arts

The litany of talented acts at this year’s South Huntington 2024 Festival of the Arts truly shined a light on our district’s distinct Fine Arts program. Parents and community members, with South Huntington’s young musicians, poets and artists leading the way, enjoyed a gallery-like setting where the creativity of our students could be marveled at and appreciated through an array of musical acts, performances and displays.

Those in attendance were welcomed into the high school’s South Cafeteria to enjoy artwork created by students at each grade level. For the first time this year, upperclassmen artwork was on display in the new Vicki L. Dollin Art Gallery, and the space perfectly accommodated the talents of our high school’s visual artists. It was a seamless set up that allowed spectators to enjoy many musical and live performances in the outdoor courtyard, while also having the ability to view artwork in between acts.

The featured performances included Stimson’s Jazz Choir, Birchwood and Maplewood’s combined theater groups, the Silas Wood Strings, Whitman’s WWHS Jazz Band, Chorale, and much much more. The courtyard outside of Whitman’s South Cafeteria gave performers and spectators plenty of fresh air and space to enjoy the many talented acts by our students on the beautiful afternoon.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to South Huntington's amazing team of teachers, administrators, artists, musicians, vocalists, dancers, poets and actors whose talents created a spectacular Festival of the Arts event for 2024! A special thank you to our Facilities Department, without whose efforts and hard work, this Festival could not have been possible. Bravo to all whose talents and dedication provided an extraordinary celebration of the Arts! We appreciate the dedication all have shown to keep arts in South Huntington alive and well.

The itinerary of musical performances began with Walt Whitman's Jazz Band in the courtyard outside the South Cafeteria.

The Birchwood and Maplewood theatre groups joined together to perform an excerpt from 'Finding Nemo.'

For the first time this year, upperclassmen artwork was on display in the new Vicki L. Dollin Art Gallery.

Walt Whitman's dancers did a number of beautiful performances that the crowd of proud parents enjoyed.

Poets read periodically throughout the show, sharing their creative words during performance transitions.

Silas Wood's Symphonic Band appreciated the sunny afternoon at the high school, making for the perfect venue for all our performers and spectators.

The South Cafeteria was full of artwork from students throughout the district, from drawings, paintings, sculptures and photography.
