Walt Whitman's 28th Annual Mercy Benefit Concert

The 28th Annual Mercy Benefit Concert was hosted by Xanadu and The Collective at Walt Whitman High School, showcasing our district’s talented musicians and artists all for a good cause. This year, all money raised will go to local food pantries and organizations that support the food insecure of Huntington Station. 

The annual concert was held ‘Live on the Lawn’ outside of Whitman’s South Cafeteria with a line up featuring music by our students and staff.  Each act brought a unique energy to the stage. From original music to covers and comedy to poetry reading, the night offered something for everyone to enjoy. Year after year, this event truly showcases the creative talent and originality of those students and staff who take to the stage.

“Each one of you should be proud. Your gift... gives. It gives joy. It gives distraction. It gives fun and inspiration. It gives help to so many folks you will never meet,” expressed WWHS English teacher and Xanadu advisor, Joe Pipolo, the man behind the annual event. 

Xanadu’s mantra, “Creation is Activism,” remains true and is proved through events such as these, where the talent and compassion of our students benefits those who need it most. Thank you to all of the creative musicians, poets, and performers who put on an incredible show!

Senior Alex Feliciano played back up guitar for Sophomore Lucy Maniatis to start off concert. 

Poets took to the stage to share their original writings with the audience. 

A surprise comedy skit gave the crowd a few good laughs. 

BAH, a crowd favorite, brought some entertaining energy to the Mercy stage. 

Whitman's teachers and administrators had their time to shine and show off some of their talents.
