Congratulations to Walt Whitan’s December Athlete of the Month, Kasey Wagner! Kasey, a senior Basketball player, has been a huge asset to the Varsity Girls Basketball team so far this season and has led the team as a captain to a 9-1 record in league play. One of Kasey’s highlights this season was an on-the-road win against the tough Commack team. Kasey is a defensive stopper that guards the team's best player every game and is averaging 3 steals a game. She has shot an impressive 36 percent from behind the 3 point line this season.
Congratulations to Walt Whitman’s December Athlete of the Month, Xavier Ali! Xavier, a sophomore Track & Field Athlete, has a shot put performance of 47'5" that places him as #2 in Section XI and the #1 sophomore in NYS. Xavier first joined the Track Team after getting advice from his Varsity Football coach, Coach Buck, who suggested trying some throwing events in the off-season sport. Xavier took to Track & Field quickly and continues to move up in the ranks, excelling in the shot put as an underclassman.
