Whitman Wins First Long Island Girls Basketball Championship Title

Congratulations to Whitman’s Girls Basketball Team for winning the Long Island Championship for the first time against Syosset. The 38-29 victory gives the team a 21 and 3 record and a trip upstate this Saturday to play in the NY State Final Four vs. Our Lady of Lourdes. 

At the AAA Regional Championship game, Iris Hoffman hit 3 three-pointers finishing with 11 points. Kallie Eichner hit 2 three-pointers, 1 with 2 and a half minutes remaining to help seal the win. Brianna Verga and Kathleen O'Mara scored 7 points each while Jaz Julien, Paige Hiller, and Madison Richter all played outstanding defense keeping Syosset to their lowest point total of the season.  

Thank you to the entire Whitman community for turning out in great numbers to support our team. Go Wildcats! Congratulations girls and good luck upstate!
