Winter Wonderland 2022 Highlights District

On Sunday, November 27th, South Huntington hosted another wonderful Winter Wonderland that brought the spirit of the holiday season to the district children, families, and all those involved in making this day such a success. With over 600 people joining in one of our district’s favorite holiday traditions, it is no secret that numerous parents, staff members, and students were impressed by Stimson Middle School’s decorated halls and holiday activities put together by our staff and volunteers.

The event gave district children of all ages the opportunity to sing songs, create holiday crafts, and enjoy hot chocolate and decorate gingerbread cookies in honor of this special season. This year featured fun activities including snow inflatables, petting zoo, skating rink, a mechanical reindeer, and more! Students and their families had the chance to have their photo taken with Santa and winter-themed backgrounds throughout the building, created by the Art Honor Society, as a way of remembering this joyful event and celebrating the holiday season.

We would like to thank the numerous faculty and staff members who dedicated their time to this special event, including SEPTA, Whitman’s Latino Heritage Club, Art Honor Society and the Girls Leaders Organization for the countless hours that they spent preparing the festive scenes and entertaining our youngest district students. We are particularly grateful to our maintenance and custodial staff who without their efforts, this event would not be possible. It is amazing to note what can be accomplished when great teachers, administrators, staff, and students are given the room they need to create something special.

The day of activities concluded with the annual Christmas tree and Menorah lighting, bringing light to this tradition and embracing the holiday spirit as a tight-knit community.

We would like to thank all of our South Huntington School District families who came out to enjoy this year’s Winter Wonderland event! It was a wonderful way to kick-off the holiday season, providing the abilities for our families to connect with one another.  We were extremely fortunate to celebrate the holidays with such cheer and enthusiasm from our students and their families.

Gorgeous balloon displays by Angie’s Party Designs made for perfect photo opportunities throughout the building.

Students and families enjoyed taking a try at “ice skating” with this year’s indoor rink.

Watching students and adults try out the new mechanical reindeer from Mac Bounce Party Rentals was fun and festive.

When the rain cleared at the end of the day, families took to the Menorah and Christmas tree to see it lit for the first time this season.

Thank you to our volunteers who helped make this year’s event go off without a hitch!
