Fall Fun in South Huntington

Written by Liz DeMonte | Jan 17, 2024 7:10:28 PM
October has been full of Fall Fun for the entire South Huntington School District!

Pumpkin patches sprouted up outside Oakwood and Countrywood Primary Centers on October 17th and 18th with the help of school staff who arrived early on those days to make sure each pumpkin was in the perfect place for picking!

The kindergarteners through second-graders were then let loose to search the pumpkin patch to find the perfect orange canvas for their artistic vision. And once they found it, it was time to head back into school to decorate their sensational squash! Would it become a Jack-O-Lantern or pumpkin art? As you can see from the photos, staff, students, and pumpkins all had a wonderful time.

And the Fall Festivities continue through the end of the month!

Friday, October 20th is the Halloween Dance at Countrywood at 6:30pm and the Birchwood Fall Festival/Halloween Dance at 5:30-7pm.

Lots of fun coming up on Friday, October 27th: Silas Wood’s Fall Festival Dance from 3-4:30pm. Walt Whitman’s Safe Halloween gives kids the chance to put on their costumes and go trick or treating at the high school from 4-6pm. Maplewood is holding their Trunk or Treat event at 6pm, and Stimson is hosting its Halloween Dance that night from 6-8pm.

On Saturday, October 28th, you’ll find Oakwood Primary Center’s parking lot filled with decorated cars stuffed with candy and treats as the school holds its annual Trunk or Treat!

Wrapping up the month on Halloween, Tuesday, October 31st we’ll get to see lots of creative costumes on display as three of our schools hold their costume parades: Countrywood at 9:30am, Oakwood at 9:30am and Maplewood at 2:15pm. The UPK students who attend school at the James Kaden Administrative Offices will hold their Halloween parade at 12:15pm. The staff there will have decorated offices and treats for the little ones to go trick or treating in the building.

You can check with your child’s individual school for more information on any of these upcoming events.

Have a safe and fun Halloween!
