Winter Wonderland 2024 Highlights
On Sunday, December 1st, South Huntington hosted another wonderful Winter Wonderland that brought the spirit of the holiday season to the district children, families, and all those involved in making this day such a success. With more than 600 people joining us for one of our district’s favorite holiday traditions, it is no secret that parents, staff members, and students were impressed by Stimson Middle School’s decorated halls and holiday activities put together by our staff and volunteers.
The event gave district children of all ages the opportunity to create holiday crafts, enjoy hot chocolate and decorate ornaments and cookies in honor of this special season. This year featured fun activities including a petting zoo, story time, skating rink, gingerbread bouncy house, and more! Students and their families had the chance to have their photo taken with Santa and winter-themed backgrounds throughout the building, created by Walt Whitman’s Art Honor Society, as a way of remembering this joyful event and celebrating the holiday season.
We would like to thank the numerous faculty and staff members who dedicated their time to this special event, including SEPTA, Whitman’s Latino Heritage Club, Art Honor Society and the Girls Leaders Organization for the countless hours they spent preparing the festive scenes and entertaining our youngest district students. We are especially grateful to our maintenance and custodial staff, without whose efforts this event would not be possible. It is amazing to note what can be accomplished when great teachers, administrators, staff, and students are given the room they need to create something special.
The day of activities concluded with the annual Christmas tree and Menorah lighting, bringing light to this tradition and embracing the holiday spirit as a tight-knit community.
We would like to thank all of our South Huntington School District families who came out to enjoy this year’s Winter Wonderland event! It’s a wonderful way to kick-off the holiday season, providing our families a way to connect with one another. We were extremely fortunate to celebrate the holidays with such cheer and enthusiasm from our students and their families.
