Walt Whitman Hosts 35th Annual Frank Gugliotta Memorial Basketball Tournament
Walt Whitman’s Boys Varsity Basketball team had a successful winter recess at the high school’s 35th Annual Frank Gugliotta Memorial Tournament. Day one of the annual tournament started on Friday, December 27th with JV and Varsity teams competing in honor of Hall of Fame Coach Frank Gugliotta. The first round featured both JV and Varsity teams from Jericho taking on Cold Spring Harbor, and Huntington competing against Walt Whitman. Whitman’s Varsity team defeated Huntington High School in the opening round by a score of 68-49. With first round wins by Jericho and Walt Whitman, the teams qualified for day two finals on Saturday, December 28th.
It was a final varsity matchup to remember as Whitman beat Jericho with a score of 71-56, the hosts taking the tournament championship title for the first time since 2019. Congratulations to our Wildcats team and coaches for great performances on the court! We thank all of the participating teams who came out to play, as well as the Wildcat Booster Club for all of their support during the winter recess festivities.
