Fundraising Success Thanks to Chick-fil-A

Some hardworking students at Walt Whitman were treated to a special lunch as a thank you for all of their efforts during the December spirit fundraiser at Chick-fil-A. Noah Levy, owner and operator of the Huntington Chick-fil-A location, stopped by the high school on January 30th with lunch and money in hand! Mr. Levy brought cases and cases of chicken sandwiches and chips, along with a big check for $1,450 as part of the proceeds raised before the holiday break.
On December 18th, the restaurant hosted a fundraiser for Whitman and welcomed an invasion of very enthusiastic students, administrators, teachers and coaches for four hours that evening. They gathered both inside and outside the restaurant demonstrating their school pride and doing their best to drum up business alongside the Chick-fil-A cow mascot (who was really Mr. Castillo!) Restaurant owner Levy said, “It was fun for the whole team. It was part of our spirit nights, so we were able to contribute 20% of sales between 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM back to Walt Whitman High School. And having Principal Murphy and the administrators and the students come in and be a part of it, just made it even more fun for everybody.”
Winners of Whitman’s holiday hallway decorating and spirit week contests also enjoyed the delicious lunch, along with those who made the fundraiser at the restaurant such a success. “This is where our kids eat. This is where some of our kids work,” said principal Dr. John Murphy. “Being able to have an owner of a local business that comes in and helps give back and allow us to raise money for our programs is one of the best things you can hope for as a community member and a principal.”
This was just one of a number of fundraisers Chick-fil-A has done with the district since the location opened in 2022. Whitman’s Cheerleaders held a fundraiser at the end of January, while Stimson also fundraised with the Huntington location in early February to help support the middle school’s National Junior Honor Society chapter.
Thank you to Noah Levy, assistant sales director Emily Bonilla, and everyone at the Chick-fil-A of Huntington for making this possible.
