South Huntington Homecoming Weekend 2025 - October 24 & 25

Homecoming Weekend is here, South Huntington! This weekend, Friday, October 24th and Saturday, October 25th, is full of Homecoming activities for our district families. And the entire community is invited!
The weekend kicks off on Friday with a 9th Period Pep Rally in the North Gym at Whitman. It’s the school’s chance to show the Whitman Varsity Football Team their team spirit, and amp up the sportsmanship, tradition, pride, and enthusiasm.
The action then rolls out into the Walt Whitman High School parking lot as the Homecoming Carnival gets started at 3:15pm. It’s fun for students of all ages with music, inflatable rides, carnival games, a petting zoo, food trucks, and a return appearance by the amazing performers from Zabo’s Circus.
The traditional Homecoming Bonfire will be lit at 6:15pm in the high school’s main parking lot. The Huntington Manor Fire Department will be there, as always, to make sure everything goes safely.
Powder Puff players will take the field at 7pm on Friday night. There’s a $5 admission fee for the game as a fundraiser for GSO (General Student Organization). If the extremely popular Powder Puff game isn’t already sold out by Friday, remaining tickets will be sold at the gate. Halftime will feature the always highly-anticipated cheerleader competition between the junior and senior classes, and fireworks!
On Saturday, we start things off by honoring three Walt Whitman High School alumni, inducting them into the South Huntington Hall of Fame: Thomas Franklin, Class of 1984; Chris Kort, Class of 1990; and Nicholas Ciappetta, Class of 1997. A celebratory lunch and induction ceremony is being held at 1pm in Whitman’s South Cafeteria.
Our honorees will then be part of the Homecoming Parade that heads out from Walt Whitman High School at 4pm. The Stimson Middle School Marching Band, cheerleaders, sports teams, class floats, clubs, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and students, staff, and teachers from all of our South Huntington schools line up to proudly march out onto Jericho Turnpike and back through the community before turning back into Walt Whitman High School.
At 6pm, it’s time to focus on the football field as the Homecoming Game gets underway.
