Walt Whitman High School's Winter Concerts 2025

The Winter Concert series at Walt Whitman High School never fails to bring the holiday spirit to our district community. Beginning in early December, the high school hosted our Stimson Middle School Orchestra, Chorus, and Band groups. Their festive ensembles and beautiful holiday sounds prepared us for an additional week of holiday spirit, as our high school musicians brought their talents to the stage, followed by Silas Wood’s sixth graders who performed in the Whitman PAC for the first time.
Thank you to each of our district musicians for bringing the sounds of the holidays to South Huntington for all to enjoy before winter recess!

1. Free World March by Karl L. King arr. Swearingen
2. Whispers from Beyond by Rossano Galante
From Composer - This composition was composed in memory of my Tiend Cheryl-Willams - Jaenecke. The piece is not a mournful tribute, but a joyous representation of her life. The work has two main themes that ebb and flow as the music progresses. Beautiful melodies and rich orchestration lead this musical creation to a full, yet delicate conclusion

1. The Stars and Stripes Forever March by John Phillip Sousa
2. Metroplex by Robert Sheldon
Three Postcards from Manhattan
A musical portrait of Manhattan's cityscape, Metroplex opens with a vision of the New York City skyline, evoking looming buildings and concrete canyons. From there, the melody travels to the heart of an urban jazz scene, characteristic of the city's famous night clubs. Finally, the piece takes us on a wild taxi ride through the heavy traffic of the bustling metropolis. The skyline is seen one more time as we leave Manhattan, hopefully to return again soon.
3. A Christmas Festival by Leroy Anderson
A Christmas Festival is a medley of traditional carols written for the Boston Pops Orchestra in 1950, including "Joy to the World," "Deck the Halls," "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel," "Good King Wenceslaus," "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," "Silent Night," "Jingle Bells," and "Adeste Fidelis."
