Middle School Musicians Honored at Inaugural Jr. Tri-M Honor Society Induction

On Wednesday, February 25th, 2026, Stimson Middle School held their inaugural Junior Tri-M Music Honor Society Induction. The formation of the Stimson chapter of the Tri-M Honor Society is thanks to the hard work and dedication of the middle school music department and administration. This is an exciting endeavor, as Chairperson of Music, Arts and Dance 7-12, Mr. Matt Hoffman, shared “this gets students involved, celebrates music in the building, and it also prepares them for the future by connecting them to the musicians at the high school.”
Stimson’s chapter of the Junior Tri-M Honor Society, co-advised by music educators Mr. Henrri Guillen-Ortega and Mr. Emilio Rovalino, helps to create this connection between playing music as middle schoolers to becoming high school musicians. The inaugural induction ceremony was the perfect opportunity for Stimson students to be honored.
The evening began with a special performance by Tri-M Honor Society members from Walt Whitman High School. President of the high school chapter, Sarah Bruzual, sang the National Anthem for guests before handing the microphone over to the middle school’s Executive Board. Junior Tri-M President Antonio Rivas, Vice President Luciano Damico, Secretary Allison Wisnowski, and Treasurer Solomon David, introduced themselves before sharing the qualities that make a student a Tri-M member. They then set the stage to call the names of the students who were being inducted.
To become a member of the Junior Tri-M Music Honor Society, students must participate in the middle school ensemble. Students need an 85 average overall, with at least a 90 in their music class. Students who are inducted into the honor society reflect outstanding leadership in their ensemble, participate in numerous performances, and go above and beyond within the music department. This level of participation “gives them a sense of pride for what they already do,” shared Mr. Hoffman, “and it’s a great recognition to become members of an official honor society.”
This well-earned recognition gives students the incentive to continue on their path towards becoming stronger musicians, to participate and to perform when they enter high school. Congratulations to the inaugural inductees into Stimson’s chapter of the Junior Tri-M Music Honor Society!
