Board of Education Appreciation Night 2024
According to the New York State School Boards Association, a school board member takes on one of the most important citizen responsibilities—overseeing the education of a community’s youth. From preschool days to high school graduation, the Board of Education is instrumental in decisions that need to be made and tough challenges that require working collegially as a single entity for the success of each and every student.
These individuals are volunteers—and they dedicate their time and talent selflessly in creating a shared vision for the future of education.
Our South Huntington Board of Education works continuously in setting the direction to achieve the highest student performance; they demand rigorous accountability for student achievement results and support a healthy school culture for work and learning. Seven individuals—all very different from each other—working together for our South Huntington learning family.
At a recent Board of Education meeting, the Board was recognized by students, administration, teachers, staff members and community stakeholders providing their appreciation and gratitude to have these fine individuals serve on behalf of our children. We are indeed blessed to have each one and further blessed to have such a rich history of board members who have served our community with such concern and care.
Thank you to South Huntington’s Board of Education for your unwavering dedication to our district and its students, and thank you to all who came to share your appreciation on this special evening.
Each school was tasked with gifting special mementos to individual board members, giving each gift a personal touch.
Students and staff shared their appreciation with the Board of Education with a list of all the activities they are grateful to participate in in their school.
High school students brought handmade gifts created by ceramics students for each BOE member.
